Zambia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Her Excellency Winnie Natala Chibesakunda has paid tribute to two Zambians, Angela Chota-Pieczak and Mr. Chilambe Katuta for representing Zambia in the recently held BMW Berlin Marathon.
Ambassador Chibesakunda said their participation was a big contribution to efforts aimed at increasing Zambia’s visibility and flying the Zambian flag at every given opportunity.
She made the remarks when she presented certificates of recognition from the Zambian Embassy in Berlin to the two participants during a dinner hosted in their honour on Friday 26th September 2025 at the Zambian Embassy. Angela is based in Berlin and received the certificate from the Ambassador while Mr Chilambe Katuta is based in Zambia and had already left for Zambia at the time of the presentation.
Ambassador Chibesakunda said she looks forward to seeing more Zambians participating in the Berlin Marathon in future and any other event that presents an opportunity to fly the Zambian flag high.
She further thanked the Chairperson of the Zambian Diaspora in Berlin, Mr Frank Katebe and Mr Michael Rejske ‘Mutale,’ for the support offered to Angela during the preparations for the Marathon and on the actual day.
The two Zambian participants participated as social runners and completed the entire 42 kilometres.
A number of Berlin based Zambians and diplomatic staff from the Zambian embassy were part of the cheering multitudes along the stretch to the finishing line.
Established in 1974, the Berlin Marathon is one of the largest Marathons in the world and for the 2025 edition, a total of 55,000 runners from around the globe took part in the event.
