Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr. Maambo Haamaundu and Zambia Army

Commander Lieutenant General Geoffrey Zyeele have arrived in Berlin, Germany to attend the

2025 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference which opens tomorrow.

Others in the Zambian delegation are Defence Secretary Brigadier General David Manyima,

Zambia Army Secretary Brigadier General Dr. David Sanene, Zambia Air Force Secretary Brigadier

General Robinson Kabesha and Zambia National Service Secretary Brigadier General Eugene

Chizyuka.

The two-day conference is a high-level forum aimed at discussing the future of peacekeeping

and for Member States to express and demonstrate their political support.

Mr. Haamaundu is expected to make an intervention during a high-level session on Wednesday

which will be held under the theme, Enhancing Enabling Environments: Women in Peace Keeping.

The Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary is also expected to hold bilateral engagements with

high ranking officials from the United Nations and other institutions to reiterate Zambia’s role in

United Nations Peacekeeping missions.

Zambia is a major troop contributing country under the United Nations, with a Zambia Army

battalion deployed in the Central Africa Republic serving under the United Nations

Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA)
