Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany H.E Anthony Mukwita has hailed the German Agri Business Alliance for sending a delegation of agri business leaders to Zambia to explore avenues of investment.
The German Africa Business Association known by its German acronym, Afrika-Verein has informed the Zambian embassy in Berlin that the agriculture leaders will travel to Zambia in about two weeks’ time.
“Afrika-Verein together with the German Agri Business Alliance has the honour to announce a joint business mission on the sector agriculture and agribusiness to Zambia taking place from April 9 to April 12th 2019,” said Mr. Frank Nordman, the co-chair of the German Agribusiness Alliance.
He added that, “The delegation is supported by the German Embassy in Lusaka and by the embassy of Zambia in Berlin.”
Ambassador Mukwita said the move is a clear show of confidence in Zambia as a favoured investment destination by German business.
“We are in the biggest and most buoyant economy in Europe so this means what German business does may be replicated by others in Europe. This is a good thing for us and the German embassy in Zambia together with Afrika-Verein who deserves plaudits,” said Ambassador Mukwita.
The delegation is scheduled to meet Mr. Michael Katambo in Lusaka, the Minister of Agriculture in the presence of His Excellency the German Ambassador to Zambia Mr. Achim Burkat.
The delegation will then travel to Chisamba where they will attend the Agri Tec Expo that attracts scores of international agriculture business from abroad and local.
President Edgar Lungu is looking at diversifying the economy through the improvement of agriculture and tourism instead of depending solely on copper exports as an economic driver.
Zambia enjoys good relations with the Federal republic of Germany that stretches back about 54 years.
