…..Ambassador Mukwita tells Zambians in Germany at Xmas event
Berlin, 16.12.2019
Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Mr. Anthony Mukwita has urged Zambians living in Germany to use the end of 2019 as an opportunity to turn a new page in their relations. Ambassador Mukwita said good relations among Zambians were a prerequisite for national development and the bedrock of foreign direct investment.
The senior Zambian diplomat was speaking over the weekend when he graced a Christmas party organized by Zambians based in the German capital, Berlin.
“Guard this unity jealously as you seek every opportunity to build upon it”, Mr. Mukwita told scores of Zambians who turned up with their spouses and children.
He reiterated his usual call for Zambians to tell the good story of their country saying, “if you do, the foreigner is likely to have good feelings about your country”.
The Zambian envoy reminded fellow Zambians to always walk with their heads high as they come from a country that possess stellar democratic credentials.
Speaking earlier, the Berlin Chairlady of the Zambia German Association, ZGA, Mrs. Racheal Daka John urged her fellow Zambians in Germany to use the occasion as an opportunity to forgive and reconcile with whoever may have wronged anyone in the course of 2019. She said unity was important for the success of the association of Zambians and for purposes of mutual support.
Mrs. John told the Ambassador that she was grateful at the efforts he was making in fostering unity among Zambians resident in Germany and urged him to continue in the same optimistic and unifying direction.
The Christmas party was organized by Zambians based in Berlin to mark the end of 2019 and ushering in the new year.
Ambassador Mukwita was accompanied to the event by his spouse Mrs. Elaine Mukwita and embassy staff that include Minister Counselor Mrs. Dorcas Chileshe and her family.
As part of the process of implementing the diaspora policy which the Zambian government launched in April this year, the Zambian embassy in Berlin is expected to increase interactions with Zambians living and working in Germany.
The policy recognizes Zambians living abroad as integral to the development process back home. It sets out guidelines regarding diaspora participation in national development wherever they may be.
