The Republic of Slovenia has expressed interest in improving its bilateral and economic cooperation with Zambia.
Speaking when he met Zambia’s Minister of Justice Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC on the sidelines of the ongoing 8th World Congress Against the Death Penalty, Special Envoy of the Slovenia Foreign Minister Ambassador Frank But said Slovenia was ready to initiate programs aimed at increasing bilateral and economic cooperation with Zambia.
Ambassador But noted that the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, from which Slovenia broke away, had a big economic and bilateral footprint in Zambia and promised that Slovenia is working around re-establishing its footprint in Africa and Zambia in particular adding that a delegation from Slovenia will visit Zambia for further engagements.
“We want to improve our level of bilateral and economic engagements with Zambia and be close to your needs.
The former Republic of Yugoslavia was very involved in Zambia and we would like to come back as Slovenia,” Ambassador But said.
He pointed out that Slovenia and Zambia share basic principles and praised Zambia’s democratic credentials.
And Hon. Haimbe urged Slovenia to take advantage of investment opportunities in Zambia and further stressed that Zambia wants to increase economic and bilateral cooperation with Slovenia.
“I am grateful for your kind words on our democracy and happy to hear that you want to visit Zambia. It will also be an opportunity for Slovenia to take advantage of investment opportunities in Zambia,” Hon Haimbe said.
