Zambia Airports Corporation Limited is supporting the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) in its quest to ensure common synergies between all organisations that support the tourism sector.
Speaking on the side-lines of the 2026 ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin, Germany, Zambia Airports Corporation Limited Managing Director Urvesh Desai says his organisation is a very important player in ensuring access into Zambia.
He notes that Zambia is currently underserved by Asian and European carriers in terms of air travel hence the need to engage with them adding that local airlines are encouraged to close the gaps and look at possible linkages.
Mr. Desai stressed that as the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) is working to market Zambia, the corporation is supporting them as it was a very important cog in the travel industry wheel.
And the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority has underscored the sectors’ contribution to the growth of the tourism industry in Zambia.
Zambia Civil Aviation Authority Public Relations Manager Ms. Sepiso Zimba notes that aviation and tourism work very closely to accelerate sustainable growth by fostering synergies between air transport and tourism.
She stressed that the aviation sector is collaborating with their tourism counterparts in marketing Zambia as a destination of choice.
Ms. Zimba pointed out that some of their engagements at the ITB Berlin Trade Show focused on how they can bring more airlines on board and direct flights into Lusaka and Livingstone to improve tourist arrivals.
And speaking during the tour of the Zambian stand, Zambia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Winnie Natala Chibesakunda thanked the exhibitors for attending the show despite current challenges in international travel and assured them that the Zambian Embassy in Berlin will partner with them in initiatives aimed at attracting more tourist arrivals in Zambia.
Zambia has continued to record an increase in tourist arrivals with 2.2 million arrivals recorded in 2024 and 2.3 million arrivals recorded in 2025. The growth is partly driven by advertising campaigns to key markets such as Germany, the UK, North America, South Africa, India, China and the Gulf states.
The ITB Berlin Trade Show ran from 3rd to 5th March 2026 and Zambia’s delegation consisted of 15 co-exhibitors from the private and quasi government organisations.
Zambia’s presence at ITB Berlin highlights its commitment to strengthening global partnerships and positioning itself as a premier destination of choice.
