Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Zambia, His Excellency Jiří Kyrian, to review ongoing areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions focused on current bilateral projects, and opportunities to further strengthen relations and cooperation between Zambia and the Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic reaffirmed its commitment to the continuation of the Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) Programme in Zambia, with four specialised medical missions scheduled to take place from 4 to 9 October 2026. The missions will be conducted at the University Teaching Hospital, the National Heart Hospital, and Lewanika General Hospital in Mongu.
This longstanding medical humanitarian partnership between Zambia and Czechia continues to play a significant role in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
In a notable development, the MEDEVAC Programme is expanding its scope to include neonatology services, marking an important milestone in enhancing maternal and child healthcare in Zambia.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the longstanding partnership and advancing cooperation for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Zambia and the Czech Republic.
