The Zambian Embassy in Berlin has successfully participated in the just ended road show in five German cities aimed at marketing Zambia as a tourist destination in Africa.
The five-day Africa roadshow was organised by Eurowings Discovery, a holiday airline of the Lufthansa Group which flies to most local and long-haul travel destinations in the world.
The roadshow was mainly focused on destinations in Southern and Eastern Africa namely Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and Mombasa and brought on board hotel and lodge products, tourism boards and airline partners. It also provided a platform to engage with buyers and agents from the Germany market.
Charge D’Affaires at the Embassy Ms Dorcas Chileshe has described the roadshow as successful. Ms Chileshe said the roadshow was a good initiative as it has opened opportunities to market Zambian tourism products in Germany.
She said the event will help to increase awareness and product knowledge of Zambia as a tourist destination that has 20 national parks, diverse culture, adventure activities, the Victoria Falls in Livingstone and many other waterfalls.
The Africa roadshow is the third to be held this year and attracted over 300 Tour Operators who will start marketing Zambia as a tourist destination aggressively.
The roadshow started on 13th March 2023 and covered five German cities namely, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Offenbach, Stuttgart and Munich.
Last year Eurowings Discovery in partnership with the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) organised an educational tour to Livingstone that attracted 20 agents. Similar trips are expected to be conducted this year as part of efforts to market Zambia as a tourist destination.
