The Zambian Embassy in Berlin has appealed to Zambians living in Germany to actively participate in programs designed to promote Diaspora engagement in national development.
Speaking during the 58th Independence celebrations in Hamburg Germany, Zambian Embassy in Berlin Charge d’ Affaires Ms. Dorcas Chileshe urged Zambians in Germany and countries of extra accreditation to unite and use their expertise to contribute to Zambia’s development.
She urged Zambians living in Germany and countries of extra accreditation to register at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin to make it easier for the Mission to reach out when there are opportunities requiring their participation.
Ms. Chileshe said registration of Zambians at the Embassy was important as it could also make it easier to mobilise them in case of an emergency.
Zambians who attended the Independence celebrations were entertained by Zambian prominent musician Elton Mulenga popularly known as “Yo Maps” and other Germany based Zambian artists.
And Ms. Chileshe called on artists to join President Hakainde Hichilema in steering the young people to work hard and stop depending on handouts by composing songs that encourage hard work.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson for the Zambia Germany Association (ZGA) Mr. Enoch Chota encouraged Zambians in Germany to be united regardless of their different backgrounds and affiliations.
Mr. Chota stressed the need for Zambians in Germany to constantly promote peace and exhibit unity, love and forgiveness.
