Zambia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Winnie Natala Chibesakunda has called on Zambians in the diaspora to embrace the responsibility that comes with their freedom.
Speaking during Zambia’s 61st independence celebrations in Stuttgart organized by the Zambian diaspora in Germany, Ambassador Chibesakunda urged the Zambian diaspora to be active architects of the nation’s future adding that the sacrifices of the past must be honoured by building a Zambia that is more prosperous, more inclusive and more resilient for generations to come.
She said the occasion was also an opportunity to celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship shared with the international community particularly with the host community, Germany.
Ambassador Chibesakunda recalled that last year, Zambia marked 60 years of growing Zambia Germany bilateral relations , a partnership that continues to flourish based on mutual respect and shared values.
She noted that the country continues to draw wisdom from its founding father, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, adding that his legacy of Tiyende Pamodzi, calling for unity not just within Zambia’s borders but across the region, remains a guiding light.
Ambassador Chibesakunda said Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s vision teaches that our prosperity is intertwined with that of our neighbours and the continent at large.
She urged Zambians to rally behind their leaders and support their efforts to steer the nation towards sustainable prosperity adding that a shared commitment to hard work, integrity and national pride will be the engine of the country’s continued progress.
Ambassador Chibesakunda said the same spirit of unity and determination that secured the country’s independence and sustained the nation for 60 years is now required to navigate the opportunities and challenges of this new era.
The celebrations were attended by several Zambians including diplomatic staff from the Zambian embassy in Germany.
