Delegation leader for the 17 member Zambian contingent Ms Nancy Nyundo said the games provided a good experience and exposure to the Zambian team that participated in Bocce, Judo and athletics.
The Zambian Bocce team minted three gold medals in the unified category featuring four players, the women doubles and singles respectively while in athletics they got a silver medal in the 50 meters race. In Judo they got a Bronze medal.
And Charge D’Affaires at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin Ms Dorcas Chileshe has congratulated the Zambian team for putting up a good performance and representing the country well.
Speaking before she presented a cake to the team; she said their performance held the Zambian flag high and further wished them well in their future engagements.
The Special Olympics World Games were hosted by Germany from 17th June 2023 and officially closed on 25th June 2023.
Special Olympics offers Olympic-style individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities and approximately 7000 athletes from 187 nations participated in 26 sports disciplines.
