Zambians in the diaspora have been encouraged to work together as a family and treasure their God given DNA of being Zambian.
Speaking during the commemoration of Zambia’s 59th independence anniversary which was held in the Germany city of Dusseldorf on 11th November 2023, Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany, Her Excellency Winnie Chibesakunda called on Zambians in the diaspora to individually contribute to the acceleration of Zambia’s national development.
She stressed that Zambians in the diaspora must come up with strategies that will make them be counted as contributors to the country’s development.
Ambassador Chibesakunda further challenged Zambians in Germany and six other countries of extra accreditation to promote unity under the national Motto One Zambia One Nation and One People adding that a divided people who are not willing or unable to build solid, lasting relationships will soon discover that they are also not able to sustain lasting and effective leadership.
She stressed that the Zambian government has put the country on the path to attaining national aspirations enshrined in the 2030 national vision of becoming a prosperous middle-income country.
Ambassador Chibesakunda said President Hakainde Hichilema has set a very high standard of engaging with the international community and that Zambians must double up efforts in whatever they are doing.
And speaking at the same event, Secretary General for the Zambia Diaspora Organisation Ms. Regina Mukondola said the Zambia Diaspora Organisation was committed to further contributing to Zambia’s progress and development.
She noted the good works that the Zambian government has embarked on for the betterment of its citizens as well as the creation of a conducive environment for investment.
The 59th independence day anniversary was held under the theme, “Zambia at 59 Accelerating National Development through equitable distribution of resources.”
